Barbados and San Marino have signed agreements on a pair of tax issues.

The first covered the avoidance of double taxation, and the second the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to income taxes.

The agreement was signed in New York in December. It formalizes an earlier bilateral agreement signed in July 2012.

Barbados Ambassador to the United Nations Joseph Goddard said Barbados was “pleased” to add San Marino to its growing treaty network.

San Marino Ambassador to the United Nations Daniele Bodini said he hoped the agreement would help boost the relationship between the two states, both of which are heavily dependent on tourism and financial services.
