Jamaica’s JAMPRO investment promotion agency will be making a big push to court investment during the London Olympics during with its “Jamaica House” 2012 progarmme at the O2 in London.

According to Dr Dana Morris Dixon, vice president of JAMPRO, the board has learned from its experience during the 2008 Games in Beijing, and will try to leverage the focus that will be on Jamaica from athletes like Usain Bolt and Yohan Blake.

“Jamaica is well-poised to demonstrate to the world that, not only are we producers of remarkable sportsmen and women, but that we are indeed world leaders in business, who produce signature, authentic products and perform above expectations in all areas in which we venture,” she said at the launch of Jamaica House in London earlier this week.

Jamaica’s image has already been receiving increased attention thanks to Bolt, who headlines a group of brand endorsers for Puma.

Jamaica House, which Morris called “our national house in London,” will feature a Brand Jamaica Display, along with a Jamaica Store selling Jamaican products.

“This will provide the platform for trade activities targeting buyers and distributors and also seek to increase the awareness of Jamaica’s non-traditional export products and services,” she said.

Jamaica House is being spearheaded by the Jamaica Tourist Board and Jamaica 50, in partnership with JAMPRO and the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture.
