Nevis’ new Performing Arts Centre welcomed a dance presentation by students from the National Taiwan University of Arts this week, a demonstration of what Ambassador Miguel Tsao called deep-rooted relations between the two states.

The new Centre, which was funded by Taiwan’s government and the Nevis Administration, officially opened March 29 at Pinneys.

“I invite you to nourish your cultural palette, not with food prepared for your stomachs but with your rich soul food prepared in stage by the National Taiwan University of Arts and, of course, Nevis’ outstanding performers,” Tsao said, offering a refrain from a popular Nevisian calypso tune.

The 12-member dance troupe also made a recent trip to a number of African countries, joined by President Ma Ying-jeou.

Nevis was the only country in Latin America and the Caribbean that will be hosing the group on their visit from Taiwan.

Tsao assured the Nevis Island Administration that Taiwan would continue to support Nevis’ development in culture, and would continue its commitment with ongoing projects to share experience with the federation.
