Barbados Swears In New Senator

Barbados has sworn in attorney Verle De Peiza as the country’s newest Senator.

De Peiza, who has been a practising lawyer since October 2000, took the oath of allegiance before Acting Governor-General Eliot Belgrave in a short ceremony at Government House in Bridgetown on Friday.

De Peiza is currently a candidate for Christ Church West.

A former pupil of Harrison College, she attended Queen Mary, University of London as well as the University of Southampton.

De Peiza is a member of the country’s Democratic Labour Party.
