Guyana and Suriname Meet with OAS

Guyanese President Donald Ramotar and Suriname Foreign Affairs Minister Winston Lackin both held talks with OAS Secretary General Jose Miguel Insulza this week.

Insulza and Lackin met at the Foreign Ministry’s office in Paramaribo to talk about the issue of Haitian affairs and regional education.

Lackin confirmed that Suriname President Desi Bouterse would attend the Summit of the Americas in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia in April.

Insulza met with Ramotar in Georgetown to discuss ways to strengthen democratic governance in the hemisphere and other regional issues.
