Following the first mission of St Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Denzil Douglas’ new Delta Squad crime-fighting task force, he praised the cooperation between the country’s defence and police forces.

Douglas was speaking at a ceremony at which the federation received another tool in its battle against crime, with the Coalition of Support for St Kitts-Nevis Security Initiatives presenting a new patrol vehicle to the Royal St Christopher and Nevis Police Force.

Douglas commended new Police Commissioner CG Walwyn, along with several other police officials. The Prime Minister assumed the responsibility for the police and defense forces over the summer, citing increased crime.

“One of the things that we always wanted is to insist upon the formal and continuing joint patrols between the Police and the Defence Force,” Douglas said.

According to the Prime Minister, the so-called Delta Squad is running continuous joint patrols 24 hours a day, seven days a week, targeting crime hot spots in St Kitts and Nevis.

“I believe to a large extent we are going to see good returns from the mobilization of the Delta Squad,” he said .”I believe to a large extent the general public has been enthused with this new show of force and command and leadership.”
