Jamaica’s Governor-General, Sir Patrick Allen, swore in newly-appointed cabinet members Delroy Chuck and Sen. Arthur Williams yesterday at King’s House.

Chuck is taking over the Ministry of Justice from Dorothy Lightbourne, who was a central figure in the Manatt extradition affair and was removed from office by Prime Minister Bruce Golding last week.

King will be the minister with responsibility for the Public Service. Chuck was the former opposition spokesperson for justice in 2007.

The new appointments are part of a major cabinet shake-up, and new ministers already sworn in include Dr Christopher Tufton, minister of commerce, Robert Montague, minister of agriculture and fisheries, and Clive Mullings, who is taking over for former Energy and Mining Minister James Robertson, who resigned after it was revealed that his US visa had been revoked.
