Barbancourt. Five Star. Or perhaps the Estate Reserve.

The famous rhum of Haiti is a classic sipping rum, whether neat or on the rocks.

But what you might not realize is that Haiti’s signature spirit is also right at home in a number of cocktails – particularly its Rhum Blanc.

So as summer winds down, we thought we’d bring you a tasty recipe for a Haitian-style lemonade, courtesy of Barbancourt.

Here’s the recipe for the “Barbancourt Lemonade”:

Ingredients:

2 lemons
– 1 orange
– 100 grams of sugar
– 1 1/2 ounce of Barbancourt Rhum Blanc (white Rum)

Directions:

Wash the lemons and orange peel and finely chop the zest.

Boil one liter of water.

Pour the zests on boiling water, cover and infuse for 30 minutes.

During this time make juice using the lemons and the orange.

To filter the resulting infusion, add sugar and boil.

When the mixture starts to boil, add the lemon-orange juice and the Barbancourt White Rum, and let it boil for 1 to 2 minutes.

Serve cold.
