Recovery of Caribbean Hotel Investment Market “Has Been Surprising”

In reflecting on the heart of the pandemic to now, Fernando Garcia-Chacon is impressed with how well things have bounced back in such a short amount of time.

“Back [in 2020], we were hoping that perhaps hotel investments would regain their value by 2024 or 2025,” the leader of the CBRE Hotels Advisory team tells Caribbean Journal. “We’ve beat that, and the recovery has been surprising to me. In 2022, we saw figures in the space really shoot up, with Europe opening back up and the cruise industry coming back. We were expecting a plateau that just didn’t happen in 2023 and we’re still moving strong.”
