A UK Couple Just Visited This Caribbean Island for the 100th Time
Lots of people like to talk about their vacation goals. They may want to look at Hugh and Jane Campbell for inspiration.
The couple from the United Kingdom just tallied their whopping 100th visit to the Caribbean island of Antigua, the product of 35 years of visits to the Eastern Caribbean hotspot. (If you’re doing the math, that’s just under 3 visits per year).
The pair were honored with a special celebration by Antiguan tourism officials at the Hawskbill Resort, including Tourism Minister Charles Fernandez and Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority CEO Colin C. James.
“It has been a pleasure and a privilege to be here in Antigua and Barbuda,” Hugh Campbell said. “We have enjoyed our stays, from Shirley Heights to Barbuda, to Carnival and Lion’s Den. Here, we truly feel at home – the staff has always welcomed us with open arms. It’s just a marvelous experience.”
Antigua has been seeing record-breaking tourism numbers in recent years, and the Campbells’ milestone is just another indicator.

It was a boon for the Hawskbill resort, which recently underwent a large-scale makeover as Caribbean Journal reported.
“Hawksbill is such a beautiful property, but it is the people of Hawksbill who are here day in and day out that truly make it special,” Fernandez said. “We continue to advocate that the greatest asset of any hotel property is the people. “You are what truly makes Antigua and Barbuda stand out.”
The couple received a plethora of gifts, from a basket of local treats to a painting of Hawskbill Beach by local artist Stephen Murphy; that’s along with a plaque commemorating their 100th visit.
“We must be doing something right in this beautiful twin island, that we can have people coming back here 100 times,” James said. “An occasion like this makes our job in tourism meaningful because it’s about creating experiences and memories that last a lifetime. Here’s to another 100 visits!”
