This Fast-Growing Caribbean Cruise Port Has a New General Manager

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - October 6, 2024 - 3:14 pm

One of the Caribbean’s fastest-growing cruise ports has new leadership, Caribbean Journal has learned.

The Antigua Cruise Port has named Gasper George as its new general manager, Global Ports Holding Americas confirmed.

George, a native of Saint Lucia, also serves as the rector of operations and product development for the Saint Lucia Cruise Port and GPH Eastern Caribbean.

He succeeds Cynthia Jacobs-Browne, who has been serving as interim general manager prior to his appointment.

“Gasper’s expertise and commitment to excellence make him the ideal leader for this key position. Since joining GPH in late 2023, he has proven to be an invaluable asset to our team, significantly contributing to the development and launch of the Saint Lucia Cruise Port redevelopment project and other important regional initiatives,” said Mike Maura, Jr., Regional Director of Global Ports Holding, in a statement provided to Caribbean Journal. “His strong background in the maritime and cruise industry, combined with his leadership experience and dedication to community engagement, positions him to drive progress and innovation at Antigua Cruise Port.”

Antigua’s cruise port in St John’s has been seeing strong growth in the post-pandemic period, particularly as a homeport, as more cruise brands look to launch voyages out of Antigua.
