The Caribbean Hospitality Industry Exchange Forum Is Coming to Barbados This November, With Everything from Insurance to Hotel Growth on the Agenda

The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association is bringing its flagship Caribbean Hospitality Industry Exchange Forum to Barbados this November, with a program focused on artificial intelligence, revenue growth, workforce development, sustainability and the future of regional tourism.

CHIEF 2026 will be held from Nov. 16-18 at the Wyndham Grand Barbados Sam Lord’s Castle Resort. The annual conference is designed for hotel owners, operators, tourism executives and hospitality professionals from across the region.

The three-day event will include CHIEF Talks, general sessions and breakout discussions built around practical strategies for improving hotel performance, developing new sources of revenue and preparing Caribbean tourism businesses for future challenges.

Artificial Intelligence and Hotel Performance

Artificial intelligence will be one of the conference’s major themes, including sessions on the role of AI, data and automation in marketing, revenue optimization and personalized guest engagement.

One CHIEF Talk, “The AI-Powered Hospitality Business: What Every Leader Needs to Know Before 2030,” will examine emerging business models and the decisions hospitality executives will need to make as artificial intelligence becomes more widely used across the industry.

Another session will focus on practical applications of AI in hotel operations, guest service and commercial performance, including the automation of routine tasks, personalized interactions and data-supported decision-making.

The conference will also examine how hotels can use analytics to understand guest behavior, improve pricing, identify revenue opportunities and measure performance more effectively.

New Revenue Beyond the Guest Room

CHIEF 2026 will explore ways Caribbean hotels can generate more revenue from each stay beyond traditional room sales.

The “Beyond the Room” session will examine pre-arrival services, on-property experiences, wellness, dining, retail, partnerships and post-stay engagement. A separate discussion will focus on direct reservations, loyalty and building a more balanced hotel distribution strategy.

Social media and influencer marketing will also be part of the sales and marketing program, with an emphasis on turning online engagement into measurable revenue.

The agenda includes a broader examination of the future of Caribbean tourism, including emerging source markets, new traveler segments and global competitive trends.

The Region’s Workforce Challenge

Workforce development will be another central part of the conference.

Sessions will address recruiting, retaining and developing Caribbean hospitality employees, along with the role of middle managers in improving employee engagement and hotel performance.

The program will also examine employee wellbeing, workplace culture and the development of future hospitality entrepreneurs.

One CHIEF Talk will consider how hotels can encourage entrepreneurial thinking among employees while supporting local enterprise and creating new opportunities within Caribbean communities.

Insurance, Sustainability and Hotel Viability

The growing cost of insurance will receive dedicated attention at the Barbados conference.

“The Insurance Crisis: Rising Costs, Climate Risk and Hotel Viability” will examine how Caribbean hotels can improve their risk profiles, strengthen insurability and prepare for a changing insurance market.

Other sessions will explore business continuity planning, operational preparedness, local sourcing and supply-chain resilience.

Sustainability programming will focus heavily on commercial results, including how regenerative tourism practices can support stronger local partnerships, new revenue opportunities and improved profitability.

The conference will also address how hospitality businesses can build greater community support for tourism development by creating value for residents as well as visitors.

Luxury, Midscale and Caribbean Hotel Growth

A dedicated hotel development session will examine opportunities in both the luxury and midscale sectors.

The discussion will consider where future Caribbean hotel growth may occur, how traveler expectations are changing and what owners and operators should evaluate when positioning their properties.

Branding and soft-branding models will also be examined, including their potential impact on distribution, technology, commercial performance and hotel asset value.

The conference program will include sessions on wellness, adventure travel and cultural tourism, along with strategies for creating Caribbean experiences through local partnerships and community engagement.

CHIEF 2026 is part of the Caribbean Tourism 2030 initiative, which is centered on building a more resilient, regenerative and prepared regional tourism industry.
