Hilton Is Opening a New Cancun Adults-Only All-Inclusive at a Former Breathless Resort, With 429 Ocean-View Rooms and Two Rooftop Pools

The water is a little calmer here, sheltered inside a protected bay along Boulevard Kukulcan. Boats gather offshore. The hotel towers rise above a broad stretch of sand, with the Caribbean visible from every room.

A new adults-only all-inclusive resort is coming to this part of Cancun, bringing two rooftop pools, 18 restaurants and bars, and a major new option for travelers using Hilton Honors.

Amàre Cancun Adults Only All-Inclusive Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton is expected to open Oct. 31, following the conversion of the former Breathless Cancun resort.

Owned and managed by Fuerte Group Hotels, the resort will have 429 rooms and suites, nine restaurants, nine bars, a coffee shop, three outdoor pools, a spa, and nearly 10,000 square feet of meeting space.

Reservations through Hilton are expected to open this summer.

The opening will also begin Hilton’s relationship with Fuerte Group Hotels, a Spanish hospitality company bringing its Amàre adults-only resort concept to Mexico.

Two Towers and Two Rooftop Pools

The resort will occupy two neighboring towers along Cancun’s Hotel Zone: a 20-story main building and a smaller six-story tower.

Each tower will have its own rooftop pool, adding two elevated swimming areas to the resort’s main oceanfront pool.

All 429 rooms and suites will face the sea. Interiors are expected to draw from contemporary Mediterranean design while incorporating Mexican materials, colors, and artwork.

The location is approximately 24 kilometers from Cancun International Airport, putting the resort within a relatively straightforward drive of one of the Caribbean’s busiest air gateways.

Its position inside a protected bay is also an important part of the experience. Natural currents help preserve the beach and keep the water clearer during much of the year, according to the companies.

The result should be a different type of Cancun stay: an adults-only resort with a large-room inventory and a social atmosphere, but with several smaller spaces spread across two buildings.

A Major Culinary Program

Dining will be one of the central parts of the resort.

The all-inclusive program will include nine restaurants, nine bars, and a coffee shop, giving guests a broad selection across the property.

The companies have not yet released the full roster of restaurant names or cuisines, but several concepts are being developed with Michelin-starred chefs. Menus are expected to pair Mediterranean techniques with Mexican ingredients and flavors from across Latin America.

The approach reflects the Amàre brand’s roots in Spain, where its adults-only resorts are known for combining dining, music, wellness, and art.

At the Cancun property, the food program will be accompanied by resident DJs, live performers, rooftop events, and rotating cultural programming.

The hotel is calling the concept “Cosmediterranean,” a reference to its mix of Mediterranean influences and Caribbean surroundings.

The name may be new to many American travelers, but the basic idea is familiar: a sophisticated adults-only resort where the pool, restaurants, bars, music, and wellness program are all central to the stay.

A Different Kind of Adults-Only Cancun Resort

Cancun has no shortage of adults-only hotels, from large all-inclusive resorts to smaller boutique properties.

Amàre Cancun will enter the market with a different profile.

The 429-room count places it among the larger adults-only resorts in the destination, while the Curio Collection affiliation gives it a lifestyle identity within Hilton’s portfolio rather than the standardized approach of a conventional chain hotel.

The resort will include sunrise and golden-hour programming, live entertainment, resident DJs, art exhibitions, and wellness activities inspired by Amàre’s properties in Spain.

Contemporary Mexican and Latin American artists will be featured through rotating exhibitions around the hotel.

The spa will have nine treatment rooms, along with a hair and nail salon and a bridal suite. A fitness center will complement the spa program.

Three outdoor pools will provide several distinct areas for swimming and lounging. Two will be on the rooftops, while the main oceanfront pool will overlook the beach.

The hotel will remain adults-only, although Hilton and Fuerte Group have not yet released a minimum age policy.

What the Curio Collection Affiliation Means

Curio Collection by Hilton includes independently designed hotels that participate in the Hilton system while retaining their own names and identities.

Amàre Cancun will therefore keep the Amàre name and concept while gaining Hilton’s reservations network, commercial reach, and loyalty program.

Guests will be able to earn and redeem Hilton Honors points at the resort once it opens.

The affiliation could make the hotel especially appealing to Hilton members looking for an all-inclusive vacation in Mexico. Cancun remains one of the easiest Caribbean destinations to reach from the United States, with nonstop service from major gateways across the country.

Curio Collection already has 25 properties across the Caribbean and Latin America. Hilton expects the brand’s regional portfolio to double in the coming years.

The Amàre opening will add an adults-only all-inclusive property to a brand more commonly associated with independent city hotels, historic buildings, and design-focused resorts.

Part of Hilton’s All-Inclusive Expansion

The Cancun conversion is part of Hilton’s wider push into the all-inclusive sector.

Hilton has been adding all-inclusive resorts across Mexico, the Dominican Republic, the Dutch Caribbean, and other major leisure destinations.

The company now operates more than 300 hotels across 35 countries and territories in the Caribbean and Latin America, with another 150 properties under development.

Mexico is one of Hilton’s largest markets in the region. The company has more than 100 hotels open across the countryand nearly 50 additional properties in development.

Hilton’s all-inclusive portfolio in Mexico already includes resorts in Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, and the Riviera Maya, along with properties on the country’s Pacific coast.

Amàre Cancun gives the company another adults-only option in a destination where Hilton Honors members have shown strong demand for resort stays.

The conversion also adds another hotel to Hilton’s growing lifestyle portfolio. The company has more than 100 luxury and lifestyle hotels across the Caribbean and Latin America, along with 50 additional projects planned.

The Fuerte Group Connection

The agreement marks Fuerte Group Hotels’ entry into a relationship with Hilton.

Fuerte Group operates hotels in Spain under several brands, including Amàre Hotels and Fuerte Hotels. Its Amàre properties are adults-only resorts built around dining, music, art, pools, and wellness.

“Partnering with Hilton marks an exciting new chapter for us,” said Javier Luque, chief executive officer of Fuerte Group Hotels.

Luque said the Cancun hotel would combine Mexico’s culture with Mediterranean-inspired design, dining, and wellness.

The partnership gives Fuerte Group a route into one of the region’s largest resort markets while connecting the property to Hilton’s global reservations and loyalty network.

Hilton, meanwhile, gains an experienced resort operator with an existing adults-only concept rather than creating a new brand for the project.

Changes Before the Opening

The property will undergo several updates before joining Curio Collection.

The companies said the work will include changes to select public areas and improvements to the food and beverage program.

Additional design details, restaurant concepts, room categories, and entertainment programming are expected to be released closer to the opening.

The resort is currently scheduled to begin welcoming guests on Oct. 31.

An October opening would place the debut just ahead of Cancun’s high winter season, when nonstop airlift from the United States and Canada reaches some of its strongest levels.

Travelers considering early stays should note that hotel openings can change as renovations, staffing, inspections, and brand requirements are completed.

Meetings and Group Travel

Although the resort will be adults-only and vacation-focused, it will also have a significant group component.

The hotel will include nearly 10,000 square feet of meeting space, including a 7,600-square-foot ballroom.

The meeting facilities, bridal suite, rooftop pools, and broad restaurant selection could make the property relevant for destination weddings, corporate retreats, incentive groups, and social events.

Its proximity to Cancun International Airport should also help groups arriving from several cities, particularly when attendees are traveling on different flight schedules.

The two-tower arrangement may allow the resort to separate large groups from leisure guests more effectively, depending on how the buildings and event areas are assigned.

Cancun Beyond the Resort

The hotel’s Boulevard Kukulcan location places it within Cancun’s Hotel Zone, where beaches, shopping centers, restaurants, marinas, and entertainment venues run along a narrow strip between the Caribbean and Nichupté Lagoon.

Guests who want to leave the property can arrange boat trips to Isla Mujeres, snorkeling excursions, lagoon tours, golf, or visits to downtown Cancun.

Longer day trips can reach the archaeological sites and cenotes of the Yucatán Peninsula, although many travelers will likely use Amàre as a resort-centered vacation.

The large number of restaurants and bars, daily programming, three pools, spa, and beachfront position are intended to make staying on property a central part of the trip.

Still, the location gives guests the option of exploring Cancun rather than spending the entire stay inside an isolated resort enclave.

A New Option for Hilton Honors Members

The opening will give Hilton Honors members another way to use points for an adults-only all-inclusive vacation in Mexico.

It will also add a different hospitality brand to Cancun, one that arrives from Spain with an existing identity rather than being created specifically for the Mexican market.

Much will depend on the final restaurant lineup, room categories, rooftop programming, and changes completed before October.

The fundamentals are already substantial: 429 ocean-view rooms, three pools, 18 restaurants and bars, a nine-room spa, and a protected-bay location in Cancun’s Hotel Zone.

When Amàre Cancun opens, Hilton will gain more than another resort in Mexico. It will add a Mediterranean-rooted adults-only concept to one of the most competitive all-inclusive destinations in the Caribbean.
