The Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Tourism has joined with local community leaders, hotel representatives and business owners to establish a permanent working group focused on Bayahíbe’s long-term development, creating an ongoing forum to coordinate planning, tourism management and sustainability initiatives.

The initiative is designed to bring together the destination’s principal public, private and community stakeholders as Bayahíbe continues to attract visitors, with a shared focus on keeping future tourism growth organized and sustainable.

A Shared Vision for Bayahíbe

Officials said the permanent working group will serve as a platform for planning, coordination and follow-up on projects affecting the destination.

Among the priorities are the reorganization of tourism areas, improved destination management, a stronger image for Bayahíbe and the protection of the natural, cultural and economic resources that have helped turn the community into one of the Dominican Republic’s leading tourism centers.

Participants also emphasized balancing continued tourism investment with quality of life for local residents, while supporting the destination’s long-term competitiveness.

The Ministry of Tourism described Bayahíbe as one of the country’s most strategically important destinations, citing its varied tourism offering, its proximity to major natural attractions and its longstanding hospitality sector.

Officials reaffirmed their commitment to supporting local efforts designed to strengthen destination management and raise Bayahíbe’s profile in national and international markets.

Keeping Tourism Growth Organized

Representatives from the local hotel sector and business community welcomed the creation of the permanent working group, saying it will provide a mechanism for developing proposals, identifying shared solutions and monitoring progress on important projects.

The agenda includes improving the organization of tourism zones, upgrading the destination’s urban image, coordinating promotional initiatives, strengthening security, improving service quality and protecting the surrounding natural environment.

The group will also examine ways to organize commercial activity, improve the visitor experience and preserve the identity of Bayahíbe as tourism continues to expand.
