Travelers Are Flocking to Grenada, as the Island Outpaces Much of the Caribbean

Grenada welcomed 54,565 stayover visitors in the first quarter of 2026, a 12 percent increase compared to the same period last year, according to newly released data from the Caribbean Tourism Organization.

The figures make Grenada one of the Caribbean’s strongest tourism performers so far this year, continuing the destination’s steady momentum as travelers increasingly look beyond the region’s biggest names.

One of the Region’s Strongest Performers

While some Caribbean destinations experienced slower growth — and a handful posted declines — Grenada ranked among the region’s fastest-growing stayover markets during the opening three months of the year.

The increase reflects growing demand for a destination that has quietly built one of the Caribbean’s most compelling tourism products, balancing luxury resorts with boutique hotels, uncrowded beaches, world-class diving and one of the region’s richest culinary scenes.

Stayover arrivals remain the industry’s most important measure because overnight visitors generate the overwhelming majority of tourism spending through hotels, restaurants, attractions and local businesses.

A Destination With Momentum

Grenada has spent the last several years steadily expanding its tourism footprint.

New hotel investment has broadened the island’s accommodation options, from luxury resorts to intimate boutique properties, while expanded airlift has made the destination increasingly accessible from North America and Europe.

The destination also continues to benefit from its distinctive identity. Unlike many larger Caribbean islands, Grenada has retained a remarkably authentic feel, where you can spend the morning diving the world’s first underwater sculpture park, the afternoon on Grand Anse Beach and the evening at a waterfront restaurant in St. George’s.

Beyond the main island, Carriacou’s recovery has continued following Hurricane Beryl, bringing renewed attention to one of the Caribbean’s most charming sister islands.
