The Discover Dominica Authority has named Wendy Lake as its new Destination Marketing Manager, a move aimed at strengthening the island’s global tourism positioning as demand continues to grow for nature, wellness and adventure travel.

Lake officially assumed the role on June 1, 2026, according to the Authority.

In her new position, she will oversee the destination’s marketing strategy, leading efforts focused on brand development, trade partnerships and promotional campaigns across Dominica’s key source markets.

The appointment comes as Dominica continues to build momentum in the Caribbean tourism sector, with the island increasingly attracting travelers seeking outdoor experiences, wellness-focused vacations and immersive cultural travel.

A Veteran Caribbean Tourism Professional

Lake brings 16 years of experience in the Caribbean travel industry, with expertise in destination marketing, brand management, market research and stakeholder relations.

Her background includes developing tourism initiatives through partnerships across both the public and private sectors, with a focus on destination promotion and long-term growth strategies.

An alumna of the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Lake holds a Master of Science in International Strategic Marketing, completed with distinction, along with a Bachelor of Science in Management Studies with a minor in Economics.

Expanding Dominica’s Global Reach

As Destination Marketing Manager, Lake will lead the Discover Dominica Authority’s marketing team as the destination continues efforts to expand its international profile.

Her responsibilities will include developing branding campaigns, strengthening relationships with travel advisors and tour operators, and using market data to guide promotional initiatives designed to increase visitor arrivals.

The role is particularly significant as Dominica continues investing in its tourism product, including luxury hospitality development, expanded airlift and growing interest from travelers seeking authentic Caribbean experiences.

Leadership Endorsement

Marva Williams, Chief Executive Officer and Director of Tourism at the Discover Dominica Authority, said Lake’s appointment will support the organization’s long-term tourism objectives.

“Wendy’s appointment brings valuable marketing leadership to our team as we continue to sharpen Dominica’s competitive edge,” Williams said. “Her deep industry insight and collaborative approach will be instrumental in building impactful partnerships, enhancing our brand presence and positioning the destination effectively in a dynamic global market.”

Lake said she is looking forward to helping advance the island’s tourism goals.

“I am excited and truly honored to begin a new chapter as Destination Marketing Manager with Discover Dominica Authority,” Lake said. “I look forward to contributing to the promotion and marketing of beautiful Dominica, showcasing its rich culture, breathtaking natural beauty, authentic experience and warm people to the world.”

The appointment marks the latest step in the Discover Dominica Authority’s efforts to strengthen the island’s tourism brand as it continues to target growth across regional and international markets.
