Getting to Turks and Caicos from Canada is about to get a whole lot easier.

Porter Airlines is adding nonstop flights to Providenciales, the gateway to Turks and Caicos and home to the world-famous sands of Grace Bay Beach.

The new service launches from Toronto Pearson beginning Nov. 6, with five weekly flights operating Tuesday through Saturday.

That’s followed by new nonstop flights from Ottawa beginning Dec. 17, flying twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays. Both routes are subject to government approval.

It’s a significant new air link for Turks and Caicos, which has been seeing surging demand from Canadian travelers — and it marks the fifth new sun destination in Porter’s rapidly growing winter network, joining recently announced service to Aruba, San Jose, Costa Rica, Montego Bay and Los Cabos.

That’s on top of Porter’s existing flights to Caribbean and sun destinations including Nassau, Grand Cayman, Cancun, Puerto Vallarta and Liberia, Costa Rica.

The carrier is also adding a new route from Hamilton International Airport to Tampa, with four weekly flights beginning Dec. 18 — the third Florida city Porter serves from Hamilton, along with Orlando and Fort Lauderdale.

Travelers on the new routes will fly aboard Porter’s 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, which the airline has built around what it calls “elevated economy”: no middle seats, complimentary beer and wine served in glassware, premium snacks and free high-speed WiFi.

Those flying on PorterReserve fares get added perks like priority check-in, enhanced legroom and fresh, healthy meals, all of which can also be purchased à la carte with PorterClassic fares.
