Hotel Tracker: You Can Stay at the Hyatt Regency Cartagena for $140 Right Now

The Hyatt Regency Cartagena.

Cartagena hotel rates usually start climbing fast once summer travel picks up. That’s particularly true in Bocagrande, where beachfront towers and international hotel brands regularly push nightly rates well above the $200 mark.

Right now, though, there’s a rare window at the Hyatt Regency Cartagena.

We found rates starting at $140 per night for stays from May 28-31, according to listings on Google Hotels.

For a newer-build waterfront hotel in Cartagena with multiple pools, high-floor Caribbean views, and one of the strongest locations in the city, that’s a notable rate.

Why This Rate Stands Out

The Hyatt Regency Cartagena has become one of the most recognizable modern hotels in the city since opening in the towering Plaza Bocagrande complex on Cartagena’s waterfront. The glass-heavy tower rises above the Bocagrande skyline and puts guests within a short drive of the Walled CityGetsemani, and the waterfront dining districts along the bay.

The hotel has 4 pools, a large fitness center, ocean-facing rooms, and direct proximity to the beaches in Bocagrande. Many rooms have sweeping views across the Caribbean and the Cartagena skyline, particularly from higher floors.

For travelers who want a more contemporary Cartagena stay instead of a colonial-style boutique hotel inside the historic center, this is one of the strongest options in the city.

The location is also a major part of the appeal.

You’re close to the restaurants and cafés in Bocagrande, while still staying near the historic core. A quick taxi ride gets you into the heart of the old city, including landmarks like the Clock Tower, the streets of Getsemani, and the plazas inside Cartagena’s historic center.

What Cartagena Feels Like Right Now

Late May is one of the better value periods in Cartagena before summer demand begins building again.

You still get the warm Caribbean weather, busy restaurant scene, rooftop bars, and beach traffic, but hotel pricing is often lower than peak winter and holiday periods.

Cartagena continues to see strong demand from U.S. travelers, particularly as airlines add more nonstop flights from cities across the United States into Colombia and the wider region.

The city remains one of the most compelling urban beach destinations in the hemisphere: colonial streets, rooftop cocktail bars, Caribbean seafood restaurants, island excursions, and modern beachfront districts all packed into one compact waterfront city.

Travelers staying at the Hyatt can also easily plan day trips to the Rosario Islands, one of the most popular boating and beach excursion areas off the Colombian coast.

Getting the Deal

The $140 nightly rate was available on Google Hotels at the time of writing for stays between May 28 and May 31.

As always, rates can change quickly depending on inventory and booking demand.

Flights to Cartagena have also become easier from the United States in the last two years, particularly through connections in MiamiFort LauderdalePanama City, and Bogota.

For travelers looking for a Caribbean city hotel with resort-style amenities at a far lower price point than many comparable beachfront hotels elsewhere in the region, this is one of the better values we’ve seen recently in Cartagena.
