JetBlue is expanding again in Colombia, this time with a new nonstop to one of the country’s key Caribbean cities.

The airline will launch daily service to Barranquilla, Colombia, beginning Oct. 1, adding a new connection between South Florida and Colombia’s northern coast.

The Route Details

The new service will operate once daily into Ernesto Cortissoz International Airport, the primary airport serving Barranquilla. The route is expected to run from Fort Lauderdale, continuing JetBlue’s steady buildout of its South Florida network into Latin America and the Caribbean basin.

Barranquilla has had relatively few nonstop options to the United States compared to nearby Cartagena, making this a notable addition for travelers looking for more direct access to the city.

Why This Matters for Travelers

A daily flight creates a straightforward way to reach Barranquilla without connections, particularly for travelers starting in South Florida. It also introduces more competition on Colombia routes, which can help drive pricing and availability.

JetBlue has been targeting cities with a mix of leisure demand and strong ties to U.S.-based travelers visiting friends and family, and Barranquilla fits that profile. The new route also strengthens the airline’s position in Colombia, where it has continued to grow its footprint.

What You’ll Find in Barranquilla

Barranquilla delivers a different experience from Colombia’s more tourism-focused coastal cities.

You’ll find a large, active port city with modern districts, a redeveloped riverfront along the Magdalena River, and a food scene that blends Caribbean and Colombian flavors. Restaurants range from traditional seafood spots to newer dining rooms across the city’s commercial neighborhoods.

The city is best known for Carnaval de Barranquilla, one of the largest festivals in the Americas, with multi-day parades, live music, and street celebrations that draw visitors from across the region.

Barranquilla also works as a gateway to Colombia’s Caribbean coast, with easy connections to nearby beach destinations and other cities along the shoreline.

Looking Ahead

The new Barranquilla flight is part of JetBlue’s broader expansion across Latin America and the Caribbean basin, with a focus on adding service to cities that have seen limited nonstop connectivity to the United States.

With a start date of Oct. 1, the route arrives just ahead of the winter travel season, adding another option for travelers planning trips to Colombia’s Caribbean coast
