Air Canada Is Adding a New Flight This Winter From Montreal to the Dominican Republic’s Capital

You’ll soon have a much easier way to reach Santo Domingo from Canada. Air Canada is launching a new nonstop route between Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport and Las Américas International Airport in Santo Domingo, adding a direct connection that hasn’t been consistently available in recent years.

It’s a direct link between Quebec and the oldest city in the Caribbean — and one that removes the need for time-consuming connections.

The Flight Schedule

The new service is set to begin December 10, 2026, running through April 18, 2027, right in the heart of the winter travel season.

Air Canada will operate the route four times weekly, with flights on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Sundays, and Mondays.

That schedule gives you long-weekend flexibility in both directions, whether you’re planning a quick escape or a longer stay.

A Simpler Way To Get There

Right now, getting from Montreal to Santo Domingo often means connecting through the United States or another Caribbean hub. That adds hours to the journey and introduces more variables into the trip.

This new nonstop changes that completely. You’re looking at a roughly four-hour flight that takes you directly into the Dominican Republic’s capital, landing just outside the city with immediate access to the Colonial Zone, the Malecón, and the broader metro area.

It’s the kind of route that makes Santo Domingo far more viable for short stays, not just longer vacations.

What It Means For Santo Domingo

Santo Domingo has been steadily building momentum as a destination, particularly for travelers looking for a Caribbean trip with more depth than a traditional beach resort stay.

You get cobblestone streets in the Colonial Zone, centuries-old landmarks, a growing dining scene, and waterfront drives along the Malecón. Hotels range from restored historic properties to newer urban stays, giving you a different kind of Caribbean experience.

More direct access from Montreal opens the door to a major Canadian market that already travels heavily to the Dominican Republic — but has historically focused on Punta Cana and other resort areas.

This route gives those travelers a direct path to the capital instead.

The Bigger Picture

For Air Canada, the flight fits squarely into its winter strategy: expand service to high-demand warm-weather destinations when Canadian travelers are looking to head south.

For travelers, it’s simpler. No connections, fewer delays, and a more straightforward way to plan a trip.

The Takeaway

This is a meaningful addition to the Caribbean airlift map. A nonstop between Montreal and Santo Domingo reduces travel time and opens up one of the region’s most dynamic cities to a wider pool of travelers right at peak season.
