The new Scenery Hotel Saba is now open in Windwardside, bringing a boutique stay to the island known as the “Unspoiled Queen.” The property places you at the foot of Mount Scenery, the highest point in the Dutch Kingdom, with direct access to both the island’s hiking network and its world-class diving.

It’s a small, purpose-built hotel designed around Saba’s landscape — where most of what you do happens either below the waterline or along the steep trails above it.

Rooms here face the sea, with private terraces that open toward uninterrupted water views. The layouts are clean and modern, with outdoor space as a constant feature — a place to step out and see the coastline drop away below you.

You can choose from Ocean View Terrace rooms, Ocean View Cottages, and a larger Scenery Suite with one bedroom. At the top end, Scout’s Sky Room offers elevated positioning with a broader view across the island and the surrounding Caribbean.

Across the board, the focus stays consistent: ocean-facing angles, private outdoor space, and proximity to the island’s terrain.

What You Do Here

Saba is defined by movement — straight up into the forest or straight down into the water.

From Windwardside, the trail to Mount Scenery begins nearby, climbing through dense vegetation to the island’s highest point. The route moves through shaded forest, with steps and narrow paths guiding you upward.

Below the surface, the island’s marine park draws divers from around the region. The waters surrounding Saba are protected, with volcanic formations, pinnacles, and steep walls that create varied dive sites. Visibility is often strong, and marine life ranges from reef fish to larger pelagic species depending on the site.

Getting There

Saba is located about 15 miles south of St. Maarten. Most travelers arrive via a short regional flight into Juancho E. Yrausquin Airport, known for its short runway and hillside setting. Ferry service is also available from St. Maarten.

From the airport or port, Windwardside is a short drive up into the hills, where Scenery Hotel Saba is now part of the island’s small collection of places to stay.
