There’s a New Gourmet Destination in Antigua

It's a new kind of gourmet destination.

There’s a new reason to stop at Sugar Ridge in Antigua — and this time, it’s not just for a table.

Rocks Group, the hospitality collective behind some of the island’s most in-demand restaurants, has officially expanded into retail with the debut of Roca, a new gourmet deli, wine shop and café concept that opens March 28.

It’s the first time the team behind Sheer RocksCatherine’s CaféRokuni and Fat Urchin has taken its approach beyond the restaurant floor — and it’s a move that brings the same focus on sourcing, presentation and product into a space designed for both visitors and villa guests.

A New Kind of Food and Wine Stop in Antigua

Roca is built as a hybrid concept: part modern deli, part wine shop, part casual café.

Inside, the offering centers on premium ingredients and ready-to-enjoy options. You’ll find selections of cheeses and charcuterie, aged meats, fresh seafood, pantry staples and prepared dishes, along with takeaway items designed for beach days or villa dining.

The idea is straightforward. Instead of reserving the Rocks Group experience for a meal out, Roca gives you access to the same level of product and curation to take with you — whether you’re stocking a private kitchen or picking up something for the evening.

A Wine Program With a Dedicated Cellar

Wine is a major part of the concept.

Roca includes a dedicated cellar space designed for tastings and smaller group experiences, with an in-house team that includes sommeliers offering guidance, pairings and curated selections.

It’s a more hands-on approach than a traditional retail shop. You can walk in for a bottle, but you can also sit down for a guided tasting or get help planning what to serve back at your villa.

A Space Designed to Linger

The design comes from Belgian studio Sempre, with a layout that keeps the space open and easy to move through.

Shelving is built for browsing, with a mix of packaged goods and fresh items, while a café-style area adds another layer to the experience. You can stop in for coffee, baked goods or light dishes, turning the shop into a place to spend time, not just pass through.

It’s a natural extension of what Rocks Group has already built across Antigua — spaces that combine food, setting and atmosphere in a way that feels cohesive across different concepts.

From Restaurants to Retail

Roca represents a new direction for the group, but it stays closely aligned with what has made its restaurants stand out.

At Sheer Rocks, the focus has been on cliffside dining and a strong food-and-wine program. Catherine’s Café delivers a beachfront French-Caribbean experience. Rokuni brings a more contemporary Asian-driven menu, while Fat Urchinkeeps things casual along the marina.

Roca pulls elements from all of them — quality ingredients, strong sourcing relationships and a clear point of view — and places them into a format that works outside the traditional restaurant setting.

A New Addition to Antigua’s Culinary Landscape

The opening also signals a broader shift in Antigua’s dining scene, where the line between restaurant and retail is starting to blur.

For travelers staying in villas or longer-term accommodations, access to curated food and wine has become part of the experience. Roca steps directly into that space, offering a centralized place to shop, taste and plan.

It also introduces the Friends of Roca concept, a community-driven program built around tastings, events and new product releases, designed to keep guests connected beyond a single visit.

Roca is now open at Sugar Ridge in Antigua — and for anyone who has spent time at a Rocks Group table, it’s a familiar name in a completely new format.
