Virgin Voyages is adding a new culinary concept to its lineup — and it’s bringing one of the world’s most celebrated cuisines to the center of the experience.

The adults-only cruise line has announced the debut of Ariya, a modern Indian restaurant created with celebrity chef Maneet Chauhan, launching aboard Valiant Lady after the ship completes its scheduled dry dock this May.

The new concept reflects the growing global spotlight on Indian cuisine, which has gained new recognition in fine dining circles for its regional diversity, complex spice traditions and layered culinary techniques.

With Ariya, Virgin Voyages is bringing that evolution to sea.

The restaurant will take over the ship’s Razzle Dazzle space each evening, transforming the daytime brunch venue into a 220-seat Indian dining destination focused on regional flavors, spice-forward cooking and shared dining experiences.

A Collaboration With Chef Maneet Chauhan

Ariya was developed in partnership with Indie Culinaire and chef Maneet Chauhan, the acclaimed restaurateur, television personality and cookbook author known for her modern interpretation of Indian cooking.

The menu draws inspiration from across India, blending classic preparations with coastal influences and regional specialties. Guests can expect dishes that combine traditional techniques with contemporary presentation, a hallmark of Chauhan’s cooking.

Signature dishes include Lamb Shank BiryaniGoan Curried MusselsMalabar Coconut Crab CakePuffed Rice & Avocado Chaat, and Tandoori Pistachio-Crusted Snapper.

Chaat — India’s iconic street food tradition — plays a central role in the experience, bringing crisp textures and tangy spice combinations designed for sharing.

A Story Behind the Name

The restaurant’s name also carries a personal connection within the Virgin brand.

Ariya was the name of Sir Richard Branson’s great-great-grandmother, a traveler from the coastal town of Cuddalore in Tamil Nadu who journeyed through ports across the region. The concept celebrates the idea that food can bridge cultures and connect travelers across distances.

That philosophy is reflected throughout the restaurant’s design and menu.

A Transformative Space on Valiant Lady

Each evening, Ariya will transform the existing Razzle Dazzle venue into a layered dining space inspired by India’s spice markets.

The design incorporates warm wood tones, grasscloth wall coverings and textured materials alongside hammered metal and woven cane accents.

The layout includes intimate booth seating inspired by the coastal town of Cuddalore, a semi-private dining space framed by decorative screens designed to resemble the interior of a jewelry box, and a feature bar anchoring the restaurant.

Music will also play a role in the atmosphere, with a rotating soundtrack that blends Indian classics, Bollywood hits, Punjabi pop and global sounds.

Cocktails Inspired by the Spice Route

The beverage program continues the regional theme.

Every table begins the meal with a complimentary jaljeera, a chilled tamarind and cumin drink traditionally served as a palate awakener.

The cocktail menu includes drinks such as the Maharani Morning, made with rose, cardamom and sparkling wine; the Golden Hour Spritz with saffron and honey; the Saffron & Silk, featuring scotch and toasted coconut smoke; and the Bangalore Old Fashioned, incorporating jaggery and cardamom.

A zero-proof option called The Seventh Leaf and a curated wine list alongside Indian small-batch spirits and traditional chai tea service round out the beverage selection.

Another Step in Virgin Voyages’ Dining Strategy

Virgin Voyages has positioned dining as a central part of its cruise experience, focusing on chef-driven restaurants rather than traditional cruise buffets.

The company was ranked No. 1 for Best Cruise Line for Dining by U.S. News & World Report in 2026.

“Ariya is the next chapter in our food and beverage collection that we’ve been building with real intention since day one,” said Nirmal Saverimuttu, CEO of Virgin Voyages. “Indian cuisine, done with this level of craft and this much heart, belongs on Valiant Lady.”

Chef Levi Mezick, Senior Director of Culinary Program Development at Virgin Voyages, said the concept aims to introduce travelers to the depth of Indian cooking.

“Indian cuisine is finally getting the global recognition it has always deserved,” Mezick said. “The spice combinations alone will surprise people.”

Launching in May

Ariya will officially debut aboard Valiant Lady in May 2026 following the ship’s dry dock.

The addition marks the latest expansion of Virgin Voyages’ culinary lineup as the cruise line continues to position dining as one of the defining elements of its onboard experience
