The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection Is Adding Culebra, Puerto Rico and Norman Island to Its Caribbean Voyages

The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection is expanding its Caribbean itinerary map this winter, adding two destinations that most cruise ships never reach: Culebra, Puerto Rico and Norman Island in the British Virgin Islands.

Both islands will debut as new ports of call during the upcoming winter season aboard Ilma, the company’s second ultra-luxury yacht, which will sail itineraries spanning 27 ports across the Caribbean.

The additions reflect one of the defining advantages of smaller cruise vessels — the ability to reach quieter islands, protected bays and destinations where larger ships cannot dock.

A New Stop in Culebra

One of the most notable additions to the season is Culebra, a small island off Puerto Rico’s eastern coast known for its remarkably clear water and protected natural areas.

The island is home to Flamenco Beach, a long arc of white sand and shallow turquoise water that consistently ranks among the Caribbean’s most beautiful beaches. Large portions of the island are protected within the Culebra National Wildlife Refuge, which helps preserve coral reefs, mangroves and marine habitats.

Because of its environmental protections and limited infrastructure, Culebra rarely appears on traditional cruise itineraries. Smaller vessels like Ilma can access the island more easily, creating the opportunity for a quieter, more nature-focused port experience.

Guests arriving by yacht will find a destination defined by beaches, snorkeling and unspoiled coastal landscapes.

Norman Island Joins the Itinerary

The winter season will also introduce Norman Island, located at the southern edge of the British Virgin Islands.

The island is widely known among sailors and divers for its sheltered bays and dramatic coastal scenery. Offshore caves, snorkeling sites and calm anchorages have long made Norman Island a favorite stop for private yachts cruising through the BVI.

For Ilma guests, the destination will feature curated beach gatherings and relaxed seaside celebrations, turning the island’s quiet coves into a setting for the kind of small-scale, intimate experiences that define the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection’s approach to cruising.

Norman Island will join Canouan in the Grenadines as one of the season’s signature beach-focused destinations.

A Caribbean Season Built Around Flexibility

The winter sailing schedule for Ilma will span 27 ports across the Caribbean, with itineraries designed around flexibility and easy access for travelers.

Miami, San Juan and Oranjestad in Aruba will serve as primary turnaround ports for the season.

St. Barths will remain a frequent stop throughout the schedule, continuing its role as one of the most popular destinations in the yacht’s Caribbean program.

The season will also include an expanded lineup of three- and four-night round-trip sailings from Miami and San Juan, designed for shorter Caribbean escapes. These itineraries will visit destinations such as Great Exuma in The Bahamas and Key West, creating options for travelers looking for long-weekend voyages.

Longer sailings of five to seven nights will move between a mix of lively Caribbean islands and quieter anchorages, emphasizing the relaxed pace and destination-focused style that distinguishes yacht cruising from traditional large-ship itineraries.

With the addition of Culebra and Norman Island, the upcoming season continues to push the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection deeper into the Caribbean’s lesser-visited corners — the kinds of places defined by clear water, small harbors and beaches that still feel largely untouched.
