Passenger traffic at Puerto Rico’s main air hub saw a slight decline last month.

Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan handled 1,046,277 passengers in February, down from 1,068,916 passengers during the same month last year, according to new data from airport operator Aerostar Puerto Rico.

The figures represent a 2.1 percent decrease in passenger traffic year over year.

The February dip follows a similar pattern in the year-to-date numbers.

Total passenger traffic for the first two months of the year reached 2,236,855 travelers, compared to 2,285,084 during the same period in the previous year, also a 2.1 percent decline.

Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport remains the busiest airport in Puerto Rico and one of the Caribbean’s largest air hubs, serving as a primary gateway for both international visitors and inter-island travel.

The airport continues to host service from a wide range of airlines connecting San Juan with cities across the mainland United States, Latin America and the wider Caribbean.

Despite the slight decline in February, San Juan remains a central player in the region’s aviation network, with ongoing efforts focused on expanding routes and maintaining the island’s connectivity with key tourism markets
