A new chapter is coming for the luxury all-inclusive sector in the Caribbean Basin.

Marriott International has confirmed that the JW Marriott Costa Elena Resort All-Inclusive in Costa Rica is expected to debut in 2026, marking the first all-inclusive JW Marriott resort in the Caribbean and Latin America region.

There isn’t an official date

The 415-room project represents a notable expansion for the JW Marriott brand, which has historically focused on traditional luxury hotels and resorts rather than the all-inclusive segment. The Costa Elena property signals Marriott’s continued push into the premium all-inclusive space, a category that has seen significant growth across the Caribbean basin in recent years.

The resort will be located within Costa Elena, a master-planned coastal development in Guanacaste, in the country’s northwestern Pacific region near the border with Nicaragua. The area is known for its remote beaches, national parks and strong appeal among luxury travelers looking for quieter destinations within Costa Rica.

When it opens, the property will operate as a fully all-inclusive resort under the JW Marriott flag, offering a luxury interpretation of the all-inclusive model aligned with the brand’s wellness-focused identity.

Marriott has been steadily expanding its all-inclusive portfolio across the Caribbean and Latin America since launching its platform in 2019. The company now operates dozens of all-inclusive resorts under brands including Ritz-Carlton Reserve, Luxury Collection, Autograph Collection, Westin, and Marriott Hotels.

The upcoming JW Marriott Costa Elena Resort All-Inclusive will further strengthen the company’s footprint in the region, which has become the center of growth for the all-inclusive sector globally.

Costa Rica has been seeing increasing interest from developers pursuing luxury resort projects, particularly in Guanacaste, where international airlift and strong demand from North American travelers have fueled new hospitality investment.

Once open, the JW Marriott Costa Elena is expected to bring the brand’s signature emphasis on wellness, design and service to the all-inclusive format, positioning the property among the region’s growing collection of high-end all-inclusive resorts.

The debut will also mark the first time travelers can experience the JW Marriott brand as an all-inclusive resort anywhere in the Caribbean and Latin America region.
