Bermuda’s Airlift Keeps Rising, Capacity Jumps Again in 2026, and Momentum Builds for a Third Straight Year

Air traffic continues to grow in Bermuda, according to new data revealed at the CTO Air Connectivity Summit in Hamilton this week.

Bermuda’s air traffic has grown for two years in a row, with an 11 percent traffic jump last year, according to ASM’s Edmond Rose, who was the event’s keynote speaker.

The trend is continuing so far in 2026, with an additional 15,000 more seats than in 2025, Rose said.

That works out to a 6 percent increase in seats over last year.

Much of that has come from the rapid expansion of upstart Bermuda-based carrier BermudAir, which has added a host of new routes in the last two years, rising to nine different scheduled routes between Bermuda and cities in both the United States and Canada.

The biggest opportunity, Rose said, was in the lower-season months, when there is “still unused capacity for plenty more visitors.”

One interesting note was an area of opportunity for Bermuda tourism: Chicago, which Rose said is Bermuda’s “largest unserved destination,” with good potential for both origin-destination traffic and connecting flights.
