Guyana Seeks Partners for Two New Airports

Guyana’s government has issued a major set of tenders for new airport construction in the country’s infrastructure expansion as the economy accelerates on the back of offshore oil production.

The Ministry of Public Utilities and Aviation has released Requests for Proposals for the design, construction and financing of two new municipal airports: one in Berbice, on the country’s coastal plain, and a second in Lethem, near the border with Brazil. The government is also seeking bids to rehabilitate several smaller airstrips across the hinterland and coastal regions.
