The beaches. The food scene. The shopping. The turtles. Grand Cayman is more popular than ever, and now it’s getting easier to reach.

Grand Cayman is getting a new nonstop flight from the United States next summer, Caribbean Journal has learned.

Cayman Airways has announced seasonal nonstop service between Austin, Texas and Grand Cayman, expanding the airline’s United States network and adding new summer airlift to the Cayman Islands.

Cayman Airways has announced new seasonal nonstop service between Austin, Texas and Grand Cayman, set to begin May 24, 2026 and run through August 16, 2026, pending regulatory approval.

The Details of the New Route

The new flight will operate once weekly on Sundays, giving travelers in the Austin market a nonstop option to reach Grand Cayman during the heart of the summer travel season. The route eliminates the need to connect through larger United States hubs, reducing total travel time and simplifying the journey to the Cayman Islands.

Austin becomes the latest United States city added to Cayman Airways’ network, expanding access from Central Texas and strengthening summer airlift to the islands.

It’s the most high-profile launch for Cayman Airways since the company launched its flights between Los Angeles and Grand Cayman back in 2022.

Why Austin

Austin has emerged as one of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the United States, with steadily increasing interest in travel to the Cayman Islands over recent years. According to Cayman Airways, analysis conducted with the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism identified Austin as one of the largest unserved United States markets for Cayman travel, with particularly strong demand during the summer months.

Austin has quietly been developing as a major hub for Caribbean travel, too, with more flights from the city to a host of destinations across the region.

The new route is designed to convert that existing demand into arrivals, giving travelers a direct path from Central Texas to Seven Mile Beach, George Town, and the island’s quieter eastern districts.

What It Means for the Cayman Islands

Tourism officials see the route as a targeted move to strengthen summer travel and broaden the airline’s reach beyond traditional gateway cities. The flight supports the Cayman Islands’ wider tourism and economic strategy by improving access from a growing source market while reinforcing the role of the national carrier in route development.

The service will be supported by joint marketing efforts between Cayman Airways and the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism, focused on building awareness in the Austin market and driving summer travel.
