The Jamaican Bobsled Team Is Heading Back to the Winter Olympics

Bobsled is back.

Feel the rhythm, feel the rhyme. Get on up. It’s bobsled time!

Jamaican Bobsled Team is officially headed to the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina, and once again, the island is bringing Caribbean energy to one of the coldest stages in sports.

Jamaica’s 2-man bobsled, four-man team and women’s monobob have qualified for the Games, with Shane Pitter set to pilot the two-man sled in Italy. It’s another milestone moment for a program that has long defied geography, expectations, and winter itself.

The qualification confirms Jamaica’s place among the world’s elite winter nations, a remarkable achievement for a tropical country where ice and snow are the stuff of movies, not daily life. And yet, the formula remains familiar: speed, strength, and an unmistakable sense of national pride.

Backing up Pitter will be a strong group of brakemen: Nimroy Turgott, Joel Fearon, and Junior Harris. Together, the crew has helped push Jamaica back into Olympic contention, continuing the country’s legacy in a sport it famously claimed as its own more than three decades ago — and popularized in the film Cool Runnings.

From Calgary to Beijing, Jamaica’s bobsled story has always been about more than medals. It’s about representation, perseverance, and the confidence to show up—fully Jamaican—on the world’s biggest stage. Milan-Cortina 2026 will be the latest chapter in that story.

With qualification now secured, the focus turns to preparation, performance, and polish as the team gears up for Italy. One thing is already guaranteed: when Jamaica’s sled lines up at the start, the Caribbean will once again be very much part of the Winter Olympics conversation
