Mexico Grand Hotels has officially opened Kadún, a new 110-room boutique hotel in the heart of Cabo San Lucas, Caribbean Journal has learned. The property debuted last month, marking the group’s first downtown hotel and a new chapter for the Los Cabos–based hospitality company.

Located just steps from the Cabo San Lucas Marina and El Médano Beach, Kadún brings a contemporary, design-forward hotel concept to one of the destination’s most active and walkable areas.

A New Downtown Address for Mexico Grand Hotels

Kadún represents a strategic expansion for Mexico Grand Hotels, whose portfolio has traditionally centered on larger resort properties across Los Cabos. With this opening, the group moves into a more urban setting, offering a boutique-scale alternative positioned close to the city’s waterfront, dining, and nightlife.

The hotel was developed with an emphasis on local culture and creative expression, aiming to reflect the character of Baja California Sur while offering a refined, modern stay.

Design Rooted in Baja California Sur

Throughout the property, Kadún’s interiors draw on regional materials and craftsmanship. Guest rooms and public spaces feature sculptural wood paneling, woven natural textures, and locally inspired artwork, along with handcrafted ceramics and masks sourced from the region.

The overall aesthetic blends contemporary design with visual references to Baja’s artistic heritage, creating a setting that feels modern while remaining closely tied to place.

“With Kadún, our goal was to create a hotel that doesn’t just exist in Cabo, but truly belongs to Cabo,” said Gabriel Ibarra Macías, sales and marketing director at Mexico Grand Hotels. “Everything from the design to the programming was crafted to honor the traditions, artistry, and natural beauty of Baja California Sur.”

Accommodations Designed for Short and Extended Stays

Kadún offers a mix of standard and deluxe rooms along with larger suites designed to accommodate longer stays and small group travel. Select suites include kitchenettes, private terraces, and outdoor jacuzzis, adding flexibility for guests staying beyond a typical weekend visit.

The variety of room types positions the hotel for leisure travelers, extended-stay guests, and those looking for a centrally located base in Cabo San Lucas.

Rooftop Pool, Restaurants, and Social Spaces

Amenities at Kadún include a rooftop pool and sun deck overlooking the marina and downtown Cabo, providing a focal point for guests seeking city and water views. The hotel is also home to two signature restaurants, UMBRAL and SAVIA, both centered on Baja-inspired cuisine, along with an artisanal coffee shop, Lola Mia.

In addition, Kadún features meeting and event spaces designed for intimate gatherings, private dinners, and small celebrations, expanding its role beyond accommodations alone.

Cultural and Nature-Based Programming

To deepen the guest experience, Kadún offers a series of curated programs developed in collaboration with local partners. These include marine-focused excursions departing from the Cabo San Lucas Marina, artistic immersion experiences in Todos Santos with studio visits and local culinary encounters, and countryside journeys centered on ranch culture, hands-on food preparation, tequila tastings, and outdoor dinners.

The programming is designed to connect guests with the landscapes, traditions, and communities of Baja California Sur.

Access to a Broader Los Cabos Resort Collection

If you’re staying at Kadún, you have access to amenities across the Mexico Grand Hotels portfolio, including Hacienda Encantada Resort & Residences, Vista Encantada Spa Resort & Residences, and Marina Fiesta Resort & Spa, allowing visitors to combine a boutique downtown stay with resort experiences elsewhere in Los Cabos.

Prices

For a destination like Los Cabos, the prices are rather attractive indeed — to the tune of just $160 per night right now, according to what we found on Google Hotels.
