Hilton is planning a new dual-brand hotel in San Juan’s Convention District, a project that will bring Hampton by Hilton and Homewood Suites by Hilton together in a single tower targeted to open in 2026.

The hotel will rise as a 175,000-square-foot building with a total of 257 guest rooms, supported by a multi-level parking garage. While additional amenities are planned, Hilton and project partners have not yet released full details.

The development represents a $77 million public-private investment and forms part of Hilton’s broader expansion strategy in Puerto Rico. The company has said it intends to more than double its hotel presence on the island, with San Juan serving as a central focus of that growth.

The property will be located in the Convention District, adjacent to the Puerto Rico Convention Center, an area that has seen continued hotel and infrastructure development tied to meetings, conventions, and large-scale events. The district is also close Old San Juan, Condado, and Isla Verde, placing the hotel within short reach of the city’s primary business and leisure areas.

It’s also, perhaps most importantly, near one of our favorite mixed-use developments in the Caribbean – the always-entertaining Distrito T-Mobile.

By combining two Hilton brands in one building, the hotel is designed to accommodate different types of stays. Hampton by Hilton typically serves short-stay business and leisure travelers, while Homewood Suites by Hilton is geared toward longer stays, offering suite-style accommodations with in-room kitchens.

Hilton’s investment reflects continued confidence in Puerto Rico’s tourism and business travel markets, particularly in San Juan, which remains the island’s main gateway for travelers from the mainland United States and international markets.

Construction timelines and final opening dates remain subject to change as development continues. Hilton has indicated that more information on design and amenities will be released as the project advances.

When completed, the hotel will add a significant new option to San Juan’s Convention District, supporting convention-related demand while expanding Hilton’s footprint in Puerto Rico.
