InterCaribbean Just Launched Puerto Rico-St Kitts Flights

St. Kitts has strengthened its regional and international connectivity with the launch of a new nonstop air service from San Juan, Puerto Rico, marking another step in the destination’s push to diversify arrivals and improve access across key markets.
The inaugural flight, operated by interCaribbean Airways, was welcomed with a ceremony at the Kayan Jet terminal, bringing together government officials, tourism leaders, and airline representatives to mark the start of the twice-weekly service.
The new route creates a direct air bridge between St. Kitts and Puerto Rico while also simplifying travel for international visitors connecting through San Juan from major gateway cities in the United States and Europe. Tourism officials say the service enhances the island’s ability to capture both regional demand and long-haul traffic moving through one of the Caribbean’s most important aviation hubs.
St Kitts Tourism Minister Marsha T. Henderson said the new service recognizes the cultural and economic importance of the Puerto Rican market while positioning San Juan as a strategic connection point for broader international growth. She noted that increased airlift plays a critical role in supporting local businesses across the tourism sector, from transportation providers and restaurants to cultural and experiential operators.
St. Kitts Tourism Authority Chief Executive Officer Kelly Fontenelle described the launch as a meaningful milestone in regional connectivity, emphasizing the collaborative effort required to bring the route to market. She said the focus remains on making travel to the destination more efficient, allowing visitors to spend less time in transit and more time experiencing St. Kitts.
InterCaribbean Airways Chairman Lyndon Gardnier said the new nonstop service strengthens ties between two Caribbean destinations while supporting family travel, business connections, and regional mobility. He added that the route builds on the airline’s growing partnership with St. Kitts and Nevis and reflects a broader commitment to improving intra-Caribbean air connectivity.
The new service operates twice weekly. Flights from San Juan to St. Kitts depart on Fridays and Mondays at 5:20 p.m., arriving at 6:30 p.m. Return flights from St. Kitts to San Juan operate on Thursdays and Sundays, departing at 8:30 a.m. and arriving at 9:40 a.m.
