Antigua’s Rocks Group Is Opening Another New Hotspot, This Time in Jolly Harbour

It's called Fat Urchin.

Antigua’s dining scene is getting a new jolt of energy this holiday season, with a restaurant opening set for one of the island’s busiest marinas.

Fat Urchin officially opens Wednesday, Dec. 24, at Jolly Harbour Marina, introducing a new public house and coastal kitchen concept from Antigua’s award-winning Rocks Group. The opening lands just ahead of Christmas, positioning the venue as a new gathering spot for the heart of Antigua’s west coast during one of the island’s most active travel periods.

Set across two levels overlooking the marina, Fat Urchin is built for all-day use, opening daily at 8:30 a.m. Downstairs, the Public House leans classic and casual, with pub staples like fish and chips, burgers, fish finger butties, loaded fries and cold pints, along with live sport on screen. Upstairs, the Coastal Kitchen shifts the focus to a more refined, seafood-forward menu, with house-made pastas, oysters, steak frites and fresh local catch anchoring the offerings.

Christmas Eve will kick off with DJ Irish in the evening and a festive Pint & Pie special in the Public House, including a buy-a-pint, get-a-mini-mince-pie promotion. From there, the restaurant plans to keep the momentum going through Christmas and New Year’s with brunches, live music and late-night programming.

“Fat Urchin is about great food without the fuss,” said Alex Grimley, founder and chief executive officer of Rocks Group. “It’s relaxed, cheeky, and built for the Jolly Harbour community; a place you can pop in for a pint or settle in for the evening.”

The opening adds another dimension to Jolly Harbour Marina, which has been steadily re-establishing itself as a hub for both yachting traffic and residential life. For visitors staying nearby, Fat Urchin sits minutes from resorts and villas along Antigua’s west coast, making it an easy walk-or-boat-up option for casual meals or nights out.

The launch also comes as Rocks Group continues to expand its footprint across the island. Alongside Fat Urchin, the group has introduced Roca at Sugar Ridge, a new wine cellar, pantry, deli and butcher’s block that is already taking orders for holiday hampers and premium wines and appearing at Christmas markets around Antigua.

Fat Urchin joins a well-known portfolio that includes Sheer Rocks, now celebrating its fifteenth anniversary; Catherine’s Café in English Harbour; and the Asian-inspired Rokuni, all of which are rolling out festive menus and live music through the holiday season.

For travelers spending the holidays in Antigua, the opening adds a new, informal option to an already strong dining lineup — one that reflects the island’s growing appetite for places that feel rooted in community as much as cuisine.
