Cancun Passenger Traffic Seems to Be Stabilizing
Passenger traffic in Cancún is showing clear signs of stabilization, according to new November data released by airport operator ASUR.
The airport reported 2,401,840 passengers handled in November, a year-over-year decline of just 0.8 percent. While negative, the growth reflects a leveling-off after months of uneven performance driven by shifting travel patterns and a softer shoulder season across parts of Mexico.
Domestic traffic held steady at 834,117 passengers for the month, down 5.6 percent; but international traffic — the primary driver of Cancún’s tourism economy — grew by 1.7 percent to reach 1,567,723 passengers.
Year to date, Cancún has handled passenger traffic of 27,608,243, a 3.5 percent decline over 2024
The stabilizing performance comes as airlines continue to add capacity into the Mexican Caribbean, particularly from the United States and Canada, where demand for warm-weather travel remains high heading into the holidays.
