The Bahamas Just Added New Nonstop Flights Canadian Travelers Will Love

Winter travelers across Canada have a new way to reach Nassau in The Bahamas, one of the region’s fastest-growing Caribbean destinations for Canadian visitors.
Air Canada has launched direct service from both Ottawa and Halifax to Nassau, a move that arrives just as demand from each market reaches new highs.
Travel from Ottawa to The Bahamas is up 54 percent year over year; Nova Scotia has surged 85percent in the same period.
Removing the need for a connection is expected to accelerate that momentum, giving travelers a quicker route to warm seas, high-sun days.
Bahamian tourism officials described the expansion as an essential piece of the country’s continued growth in the Canadian market.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism I. Chester Cooper said the new routes reaffirm the destination’s strengthening place in Canadian travel patterns, emphasizing that increased airlift is critical to keeping pace with rising demand.
He said that the new service deepens ties with Canada while making it even easier for visitors to experience the natural beauty, culture and hospitality that define the islands.
Air Canada executives highlighted the benefit of additional nonstops for winter travelers, pointing to widespread interest in reliable flight options that allow Canadians to plan warm-weather escapes without interruption.
Alexandre Lefevre, the carrier’s Vice President of Network Planning, underscored the carrier’s commitment to expanding direct access to Nassau, calling the new Ottawa and Halifax flights an important step in offering more choice and convenience across Canada.
The routes join the existing service already connecting Canada to Nassau through Toronto and Montreal. Those core gateways continue this winter with near-daily frequencies from Toronto and a robust seasonal schedule from Montreal, now complemented by the new weekly Friday departures from Ottawa and Halifax. Together, the expanded network gives travelers across the country smoother entry to The Bahamas’ collection of sixteen island destinations, making Nassau an even more efficient gateway for exploring the archipelago.
They also come as boutique carrier Porter Airlines just launched its first nonstop flights to The Bahamas.
