The Dominican Republic is closing in on its strongest tourism year ever. The country welcomed 10,284,251 visitors in the first eleven months of 2025, a performance that tourism officials say all but guarantees a historic finish when the year ends.

Tourism Minister David Collado outlined the results at a recent briefing in Santo Domingo, calling the growth “another record” for a sector that has outpaced much of the region’s recovery. The numbers show sustained momentum across both air and cruise arrivals, despite ongoing global economic and geopolitical pressures.

From January to November, 7,884,421 travelers arrived by air — an increase of 35 percent over 2019, 10 percent compared to 2023, and 3 percent above 2024. Cruise traffic posted even sharper gains: 2,399,830 passengers visited by sea during the same period, up 153 percent from 2019, 25 percent from 2023, and 3.4 percent from last year.

Collado said the combined figures mark the second time the Dominican Republic has surpassed ten million visitors before year-end. “Lo volvimos a hacer,” he told the audience — “We did it again.”

November alone brought 1,000,484 visitors, representing a 75 percent increase over 2019 levels. Of that total, 715,916 arrived by air and 284,568 by sea, underscoring the country’s rising cruise presence.

The United States remains the top source market, accounting for 39 percent of arrivals, followed by Canada at 19 percent. Colombia and Argentina each contributed 6 percent, while Puerto Rico, Mexico, and Germany each represented 3 percent.

Punta Cana continued to lead all Dominican airports with 62 percent of total arrivals from January to November. Las Américas followed with 22 percent, Cibao with 10 percent, Puerto Plata with 4 percent, and La Romana and other airports collectively accounting for the remaining 1 percent.

Collado emphasized that the results reflect both international demand and investor confidence
