Caribbean Airlines Cutting Tortola and Puerto Rico Flights in Network Shift

Caribbean Airlines is making significant adjustments to its regional schedule, discontinuing service to Tortola and San Juan early next year as part of what the carrier calls its ongoing “Network Optimization Program,” Caribbean Journal has learned.

The changes take effect Jan. 10, 2026, and follow what the airline describes as a detailed review of route performance and resource allocation.

All flights operating between Trinidad, Barbados, Tortola and Puerto Rico under flight numbers BW 292 and BW 293 will cease, along with BW 296 and BW 297, which operated between Trinidad, Dominica and Puerto Rico.

Customers holding confirmed bookings to or from Tortola or Puerto Rico beyond the Jan. 10 cutoff date are being contacted directly and will receive full refunds where applicable.

The airline is also planning a broader restructuring of its Barbados hub beginning in February 2026. Caribbean Airlines says aircraft and crew currently positioned in Barbados will shift to Trinidad, operating flights to, from and beyond Barbados on a revised schedule. The carrier says the move will maintain connectivity across the northern and eastern Caribbean while improving operational reliability.

Acting Chief Executive Officer Nirmala Ramai said the changes are designed to strengthen the airline’s long-term sustainability. She said the adjustments are part of a plan to manage resources responsibly while preserving regional links, emphasizing that customers remain the company’s top priority

The news comes after Caribbean Airlines recently cut its flights from Fort Lauderdale to both Montego Bay and Kingston.
