Sun Country Airlines Is Adding a New Nonstop Route to Cancun

Sun Country Airlines is giving Tulsa travelers a direct path to the Caribbean next spring, launching the city’s first-ever scheduled international nonstop with new service to Cancún on May 21, 2026.

The twice-weekly flights will operate from Tulsa International Airport straight to Cancún’s airport, marking a major milestone for TUL following the completion of its new international arrivals facility. Airport officials say the launch reflects both rising demand in the region and the airport’s readiness to support international operations — a turning point for a market that has never before had scheduled commercial service outside the United States.

For Sun Country, the route fits into its growing lineup of leisure-focused destinations, offering a low-cost, nonstop option to one of Mexico’s most popular beach regions. The timing places the launch just ahead of the summer travel season, giving travelers an easy warm-weather getaway without the need for connecting flights through larger hubs.

The new service also positions Tulsa for future international growth, with airport leaders calling the Cancún launch a foundation for long-term expansion.
