DraftKings Just Opened a New Sportsbook at This Puerto Rico Casino Resort
A new chapter for sports betting in Puerto Rico began this week with the opening of the DraftKings retail Sportsbook at Foxwoods El San Juan Casino. The launch, timed to the property’s fourth-anniversary celebration, adds one of the industry’s most recognized names to one of the island’s leading entertainment destinations.
The new on-site Sportsbook includes staffed ticket windows, self-service betting kiosks and a dedicated sports lounge. During the opening ceremony, former New York Yankees star catcher Jorge Posada placed a ceremonial first wager to officially mark the debut.
DraftKings also confirmed that its top-rated online Sportsbook is expected to launch in Puerto Rico in the coming months, pending licensing and regulatory approvals.
Puerto Rico becomes the latest market for the company’s expanding U.S. and Canada footprint, joining 28 states, Washington, D.C., and Ontario.
Executives pointed to the island’s strong sports culture, noting that the addition of a DraftKings venue offers a new way for fans to engage with major leagues and international events.
Foxwoods El San Juan Casino, operated in partnership with LionGrove and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, continues to grow its gaming and entertainment offerings as part of a broader revitalization of the property. The fourth-anniversary event underscored that momentum with a ribbon cutting, a ceremonial bet and the formal introduction of the DraftKings lounge.
Responsible gaming remains a core component of the rollout, according to the companies.
DraftKings said its tools and resources, including My Budget Builder and My Stat Sheet, will be available to customers.
