Four Seasons Has a New Caribbean Resort in Puerto Rico

Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts has a new property in Puerto Rico — the Four Seasons Resort and Residences Puerto Rico, set within the Bahía Beach community on the island’s northeastern coast.

The opening is officially Nov. 20, adding new global brand to the island’s hospitality landscape and further positions Bahía Beach as one of the Caribbean’s premier coastal enclaves.

Up until earlier this year, the property had been operating as the St. Regis Bahia Beach, part of the Marriott portfolio.

Setting and Location

The 483-acre site sits between Río Grande and Luquillo, about 30 minutes east of San Juan. Once a coconut farm, the property is now a vast protected reserve bordered by two natural sanctuaries. More than 60 percent of the land has been set aside for conservation, including forests, wetlands, freshwater lakes, and a two-mile stretch of beach. The resort is the only property in the Caribbean to hold Certified Silver Audubon International Signature Sanctuary status.

Rooms at the Four Seasons Puerto Rico

The resort features 136 accommodations, including guest rooms, suites, and multi-bedroom residences. Each was designed to immerse guests in the surrounding landscape with open layouts, natural materials, and terraces that blend indoor and outdoor living.

Entry-level Garden-View Rooms overlook the resort’s tropical foliage and include private terraces with lounge seating. Deluxe Garden-View Rooms add balconies and additional space, while Oceanfront Rooms look directly onto the Atlantic, combining expansive views with marble bathrooms and furnished terraces.

Suites offer larger living and dining areas, including the Governor Oceanfront Suite, which has a private elevator, a full-width terrace, and the option to add a second bedroom. For longer stays or group travel, the Three-Bedroom Oceanfront Residence includes a private pool and direct beach access, while the Villa Santuario, a four-bedroom residence, offers a full kitchen, outdoor dining area, and panoramic ocean views.

Dining and Amenities

Dining spans several concepts, with restaurants highlighting Puerto Rican and international flavors. An all-day oceanfront restaurant serves coastal dishes alongside Mediterranean influences, while poolside and bar venues focus on lighter fare and tropical cocktails.

The resort’s Bahía Beach Golf Course, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., offers 18 holes framed by tropical forest and ocean views. The Four Seasons Spa specializes in treatments using local botanicals such as coconut and coffee, and wellness offerings include outdoor yoga, movement classes, and personalized programs.

Nature and Experiences

Guests can explore more than seven miles of walking and biking trails, kayak through the Espíritu Santo River, or visit the on-site Nature Centre and Boathouse for paddleboarding, fishing, and guided birdwatching tours. Families can take part in the Kids For All Seasons program, which includes wildlife education and outdoor activities.

The resort also offers curated experiences that connect guests to Puerto Rico’s natural and cultural attractions. Guided hikes in El Yunque National Forest, located nine miles away, reveal waterfalls and endemic plant species, while day trips to Old San Juan showcase centuries of colonial history, architecture, and local cuisine.

It’s now the fourth Four Seasons resort in the Caribbean, joining the company’s original Caribbean resort — Four Seasons Resort Nevis, along with the Four Seasons Anguilla and the Ocean Club resort in The Bahamas.

Another one is on the way in Cartagena on the Caribbean coast of Colombia, although its debut has been pushed back to next year.

Prices at the Four Seasons in Puerto Rico

Rooms for stays beginning Nov. 20 start at around $1,490 per night, according to Four Seasons’ booking portal. That gets you a garden view room with a balcony. For an oceanfront room, the rate goes up to about $1,690 per night. A one-bedroom oceanfront suite will run you $2,190.

How to Get There

The resort is about 30 minutes from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) in San Juan. Ground transportation can be arranged through Four Seasons or local private car services. Visitors driving from San Juan can follow Highway PR-66 to State Road 187, which leads directly into the Bahía Beach community. The property’s location also allows easy access to the north coast’s beaches and the rainforest region surrounding El Yunque.
