Pasture Piece is getting new life.

A cherished piece of Caribbean history is coming back to life. Once the beloved home of the Richardson family, the storied Pasture Piece Estate in St Maarten is reopening its doors as a refined bed and breakfast, museum, and event venue.

The property’s extensive restoration honors its 19th-century roots while introducing guests to a renewed expression of Caribbean grace and heritage.

Set against the backdrop of the island’s lush countryside, Pasture Piece blends old-world elegance with modern hospitality.

Its transformation from a family home into a boutique retreat includes thoughtfully restored accommodations and a curated museum experience that tells the story of the estate’s origins — from its early ties to the Van Romondt family and the Retreat Estate sugar plantation to its later role as a cultural landmark.

When it officially reopens in December 2025, guests will be able to stay in heritage-inspired rooms, attend signature events like the Heritage Christmas Market and Afternoon Tea Parties, and host private gatherings in a setting steeped in authenticity.

Every detail, from the preserved architecture to the cultural programming, is designed to celebrate the Caribbean’s layered history and enduring beauty — ensuring that Pasture Piece once again becomes a living part of the island’s story.
