Canadian travelers will soon have far more options for warm-weather escapes, thanks to a new interline agreement between WestJet and Copa Airlines.

The partnership pairs WestJet’s North American network with Copa’s reach through its hub in Panama City, connecting Canadians seamlessly to a wide range of Caribbean destinations.

Beginning Dec. 13, 2025, WestJet will launch direct service from Calgary to Panama City, operating four times weekly. From there, travelers can continue on to sun-soaked islands and coastal cities across the Caribbean — all on a single ticket with through-checked baggage.

For Canadians dreaming of the Caribbean, the options are rich and varied. They can stroll the colorful colonial streets of Cartagena or Santa Marta on Colombia’s Caribbean coast, dive the blue waters and barrier reef of Belize, or discover the laid-back rhythms of Curacao. For a more off-the-beaten-path experience, there’s San Andres Island, a Caribbean jewel off Colombia’s coast, or the vibrant capital of Port of Spain in Trinidad and Tobago.

The expanded access underscores WestJet’s strategy of connecting Canadians to more of the world’s top leisure destinations, while giving travelers the chance to explore new corners of the Caribbean that were once harder to reach.

“This new interline partnership agreement will increase access to destinations across Central and South America for Canadian travellers,” said John Weatherill, WestJet Executive Vice-President and Chief Commercial Officer. “We remain focused on connecting guests to the world’s most popular sun and leisure destinations this winter.”

For Canadian travelers, that means this winter isn’t just about heading south — it’s about unlocking an even wider Caribbean.
