San Juan’s Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport is continuing its strong run of passenger growth in 2025, cementing its position as one of the busiest airports in the Caribbean.

The airport handled 1,186,630 passengers in August, a 4.6 percent jump compared to the same month last year. The growth was broad-based, with both domestic and international sectors contributing to the increase.

Domestic traffic rose by 3.3 percent in August, reaching just over 1.02 million travelers. International arrivals and departures surged by 13.7 percent to 163,234 passengers — a strong performance that underscores San Juan’s expanding role as a hub for Caribbean and transatlantic travel.

The momentum has carried into the full year. Through the end of August, San Juan has welcomed 9,757,486 passengers, a 5.2 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024.

That includes 8.55 million domestic passengers, a 4 percent year-to-date jump, along with 1.2 million international travelers — a 14.3 percent rise over last year.

The steady increases highlight continued demand for travel to and from Puerto Rico, buoyed by both a growing tourism industry and rising connectivity with the mainland United States and abroad.
