Arajet Launches New Daily Flights Between Santo Domingo and Newark
Dominican airline Arajet has officially launched new nonstop service between Santo Domingo and Newark, the first time in three decades that a Dominican airline has operated this connection.
The inaugural flight, DM 2310, landed at Newark Liberty International Airport on Monday morning with 185 passengers. It was led by Dominican Minister of Tourism David Collado, alongside Victor Pacheco, founder and CEO of Arajet, and Igor Rodríguez, head of the Dominican Civil Aviation Institute.
The new route marks Arajet’s third U.S. destination, joining Miami and San Juan, and its 28th across the Americas.
The Santo Domingo–Newark flights operate daily, offering travelers a direct and affordable connection between the Dominican Republic and the greater New York metropolitan area. The launch strengthens Arajet’s presence in the U.S. market and supports the growing demand for travel among the Dominican diaspora.
“This is a significant step in expanding our national connectivity,” said Tourism Minister David Collado. “With the open skies agreement now in place, Dominican airlines like Arajet can offer more routes that increase tourism and make it easier for Dominicans abroad to travel home at fair prices.”
Arajet CEO Victor Pacheco called the Newark and New York area a “strategic priority” for the airline. “This region has the largest Dominican community in the U.S. and sends the most tourists to the country,” he said. “We’re proud to now offer them a daily service that combines low fares with world-class service.”
Arajet, based in Santo Domingo and Punta Cana, operates a fleet of Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft and currently flies to 26 destinations across 17 countries. Since its 2022 launch, the airline has carried more than 2 million passengers and now holds an 81 percent share of the Dominican market.
The new route was made possible in part through the U.S.-Dominican Republic Open Skies Agreement, which enables greater bilateral air connectivity.
Fares start at $127 USD one-way from Newark to Santo Domingo, and $135 for the return, with roundtrip prices from $262. The airline says the route is designed to serve both tourism and family travel, providing a vital link between the U.S. and the Dominican Republic.
Travelers arriving in Santo Domingo can explore the country’s cities, beaches, and historic sites, or connect onward to 24 destinations in Latin America and the Caribbean via Arajet’s network.
