Margaritaville at Sea Is Adding Another Cruise Ship

Margaritaville at Sea is adding a third ship to its growing fleet. In a major move announced on the third anniversary of the brand’s launch, the company has confirmed the purchase of the Costa Fortuna, a 102,500-ton vessel currently operated by Costa Cruises.

The acquisition marks the next phase of the company’s fleet expansion strategy — and the latest sign of momentum for the cruise line, which has quickly carved out a niche in the Caribbean cruise space with its island-inspired offerings.

“With the acquisition of our third ship in three years, we are proud to once again invite guests to step into the Margaritaville state of mind on the open ocean,” said Christopher Ivy, Chief Executive Officer of Margaritaville at Sea.

The Costa Fortuna will be the largest ship in the fleet, with capacity for approximately 3,450 passengers, more than 1,340 staterooms, 13 passenger decks, expansive outdoor spaces, and an eight-story center atrium.

The vessel will undergo a full transformation before its relaunch under the Margaritaville at Sea banner in 2026, with a full redesign to match the brand’s signature tropical theme.

The move comes just months after the debut of the Margaritaville at Sea Islander, the line’s second ship, which was launched in 2024 to strong demand and critical praise.

“Over the last three years we have been incredibly focused on building Margaritaville at Sea by delivering more of what our guests love – a uniquely laid-back island attitude with award-winning hospitality,” Ivy said.

Margaritaville at Sea made its debut in May 2022 with the Margaritaville at Sea Paradise, bringing the Jimmy Buffett-inspired brand to sea for the first time.

Since then, the company says it has served hundreds of thousands of cruisers.

The Costa Fortuna will continue operating under Costa Cruises until late 2025, before beginning its transformation ahead of a relaunch from a yet-to-be-announced new homeport.

Last year, Margaritaville at Sea added Tampa to its network, with a new destination: Cozumel.

“Margaritaville at Sea has been on an exceptional trajectory since its launch only a few short years ago,” said John Cohlan, CEO of Margaritaville. “We’re thrilled to once again expand the experience of our brand on the water and share the cruise line’s signature experiences and amenities with even more guests
