Caribbean Plate: A Great Little Seaside Spot in Antigua
It’s tucked away in a hotel on the northern coast of Antigua. But it’s one of the island’s best-kept secrets.
This is Mamma Mia, a terrific little Italian-Caribbean fusion spot set in the Northshore Seaside Suites Hotel.
I tried the restaurant on my recent trip to the island, and found it to be a delightful spot with a perfect setting perched right above the water.
It’s got all the ingredients: a nice breeze, a smooth Bossa Nova soundtrack and some rather good Italian food, with twists: I loved the “fish meatballs,” a cool take on a traditional favorite; the fried fish sandwich was the perfect blend of crispy and fresh.
The menu is broader, with pizza, handmade pasta and lobster, along with a range of fresh-caught fish. (The Gnocchi alla Norma is a hit, too).
There’s a full bar, and that means the perfect sunset opportunity, well paired with a glass of wine.
This is just a nice place to be, and a must for a classic oceanfront meal in Antigua.
Here’s how to find it.
