Air Canada Is Adding Flights to a New Caribbean Destination: Cartagena
It’s part of what Air Canada is calling “New Frontiers.” The country’s national flag carrier is adding more new destinations, particularly in the Caribbean — with a focus on the kinds of travel spots that are a bit off the beaten path.
The newest addition in the Caribbean? Cartagena, the fascinating, centuries-old city on the Caribbean coast of Colombia.
Because while Cartagena has been seeing strong tourism growth, much of its tourism still comes from within the South American continent — and it’s never really been on the radar of Canadian travelers.
That will change this winter, though, when Air Canada adds not one but two new nonstop routes to Cartagena.

That includes nonstop service from both Toronto and Montreal to Cartagena.
Both flights will be operating once every week with service on Saturdays.
Both flights will also be kicking off on Dec. 20, just in time for the peak winter travel season.
Air Canada says the routes will be running through the high season, with a sunset of April 11 for both routes, at least for the next year.
Are you planning a trip to Cartagena? While the city’s highly-anticipated Four Seasons doesn’t yet have an opening date, there are some charming hotels you can check in to, including our favorite, the historic Sofitel Legend Santa Clara Cartagena (rooms right now for $359.55 per night.
