This Dominican Republic Airline Just Kicked Off Its Newest Route, Connecting the Country’s Increasingly Popular Historic Capital to Miami
The Colonial Zone of Santo Domingo is oldest continuously-inhabited city in the New World, and it’s a tapestry of cafes, art galleries, hip bars and boutique hotels, all set in five-hundred-year-old buildings. It’s also the fastest-growing destination in the Dominican Republic, a country whose tourism numbers keep growing as visitors continue to explore beyond traditional hubs like Punta Cana.
And there’s a new way to get to Santo Domingo, thanks to upstart airline Arajet, the Dominican Republic-based carrier that just started its brand-new nonstop service between Miami and the capital.
The new service is operating four times per week, with flights on Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesday and Fridays.
So what about prices? You can find fares as low as $354.79 roundtrip, according to the company’s website.

And what about where to stay? We love the charming boutique Billini in the heart of the Colonial Zone, which has rates for just $145 per night right now.
How does that compare with other airlines? It’s more than, say, Spirit, which you can fly for $242 nonstop, and JetBlue, which has fares for about $315 from Fort Lauderdale.
American Airlines, for reference, has flights starting at $330 roundtrip out of Miami, according to options from Google Flights.
