By: Caribbean Journal Staff - April 7, 2025 - 5:29 pm

MSC has made no secret of its plans for the Caribbean, and now the cruise company has unveiled what is now the world’s largest cruise terminal.

PortMiami ‘’s new MSC Miami Cruise Terminal is officially open, the new home of the cruise line’s MSC World America ship, which is also making its debut this month.

The new terminal has capacity for as many as 36,000 cruise passengers (and three ships) and total square footage of 492,000.

It’s the new homeport for MSC World America, the highly-anticipated new ship that can accommodate up to 6,762 passengers and a “new world of cruising,” the company said.

The four-story terminal (technically called Terminal AA at PortMiami) is set on Dodge Island within the port of Miami. It’s part of a big transformation at the all-important port, which has added a number of new terminals in recent years on brands like Virgin Voyages and Royal Caribbean in recent years.

This year’s opening is timed for the arrival of the Seatrade Cruise Global conference, which is being held in Miami Beach with a who’s who of the worldwide cruise industry.

We’re particularly excited about some of the inclusions on MSC’s new World America ship, which has been the subject of a huge marketing push that includes celebrities like Drew Barrymore and Orlando Bloom.

It’s a halo ship that looks to position the company as a new player in the Caribbean, the world’s most popular cruise destination.
